Three Times Tables

We've been looking at a few alternative tables this week for a new office fit out project. These three may not be the most sensible items around but what they lack in practicality they make up for with unique appeal.

Public Galleries London

With the completion of the Shard eminently near and 20 Fenchurch St not far behind the Capital is soon to become home to two very different public viewing galleries. The designers of 20 Fenchurch St have opted for a botanical garden type affair, with Renzo Piano and his team offering several floors at the top of the Shard with far less in the way of distractions.

Whether these two offerings are simply a brazen attempt to garner support from the masses or a genuine effort to make these world class buildings open to all is up for debate. I'm sure both, however, will be a triumph in their own right.

The shard will be officially inaugurated on July 5 by the Qatari Prime Minister and Prince Andrew.

Shard Exploration

Blog

Shard Exploration - 11th April 2012
Renzo Piano described the impressive London Bridge Shard as something that would “celebrate community...the sense of the City”. He probably wasn’t referring to the place hacking community celebrating getting an early sense of the City by slipping past security, scaling the 76 stories to the top on foot and having a look around. The security breach apparently took place back in December and the incredible images from the summit have recently been released.

If you can’t wait any longer to see the view from the four floor public viewing area starting on the 68th floor take a look at the photo’s on the place hacking site.

Plane Desks

We came across these pretty unusual desks, chairs and tables this week while sourcing some bespoke items for an office fit out and loved them.

These guy's (Motoart) source scrapped planes and fashion the components onto all sorts of desks, chairs and what have you. If you long to keep looking through that small round window once the flight is over, the fuselage desk below could be just what you've been looking for.

Board Games..

Boardroom tables come in a plethora of shapes, sizes and styles but they all perform one basic function. This week we stumbled upon two little gems that bring a bit of fun into the boardroom.

1, Produced by Hong Kong procurements it hosts the bats, nets and what have you in a neat drawer at one end, quickly converting the boardroom in to a space for staff to let off some steam. Not for everyone but we love it...

2, Wondering what to do with all that old Lego? Advertising agency Boys and Girls have the answer...

Office Fit Out - 3d Visuals

You are moving office and working out what you need from your new space. You have a stack of 2d CAD plans in front of you; M&E, schematics, circulation, space planning. It all looks fine but requires a Roald Dahl-esque level of imagination to really work out how your new space will look and feel.

3d Visuals are now a real must when it comes to understanding how your new space will accommodate and represent your business. What used to be the  realm of elite architects and TV production is now far more accessible and a really useful tool for communicating space and design plans.

We have been working on a few visuals this week for a client looking to spruce up their current space with some new furniture.

See our website for more on us and some of our recent work.

Valentines Day - In The Office

Valentines day can be an awkward hazard to negotiate in the best of situations, send a card, flowers, teddy bear - OK not a teddy bear. Get them sent to your loved one's office.. What could possibly go wrong?!

We've been looking at a few classic sofa's this week for an office refurbishment...Not much to do with Valentines day but maybe that's a good thing?
